Guidelines and Mission Statement

We appreciate your interest in submitting a proposal to the Kelly Family Foundation. Please carefully read our Mission Statement to determine whether your organization is well aligned with our funding priorities. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at (781) 741-8060.

The grant-making process will be subject, with few exceptions, to the following guidelines.

  • 1 Grants will be made for the operations of organizations that provide direct services close to the need.
  • 2 The Foundation will not make capital grants, or grants to other grant making organizations.
  • 3 Grants will be made to organizations in Eastern and Central Massachusetts.
  • 4 To be considered for a grant, an organization must have controls to ensure that money and services are properly distributed, and metrics to determine efficacy.
  • 5 Multi-year grants will be considered where organizations can demonstrate a longer-term plan for their effective use. Any such awards will be reviewed annually to ensure award criteria are being met. Year-end reports will be required.
  • 6 No annual grant will exceed 5% of the aggregate amount to be granted in any calendar year.
  • 7 The median grant will be $15,000.
  • 8 Organizations that have not been approved for a grant must wait three years before they reapply.

Any exceptions to these guidelines will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees, and a record kept of the reasons for granting the exception.
